In a major crackdown on corruption, several top opposition leaders in India are currently under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Hemant Soren, who resigned recently, has been grilled by the ED and is set to be arrested in an ongoing money laundering case. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is facing scrutiny having been summoned by the ED for the fifth time in an excise policy scam case. Despite dodging previous summons, Kejriwal has termed the actions against him as illegal. The controversy also extends to Bihar, where former Deputy Chief Minister, Tejasvi Yadav, was interrogated for over nine hours by the ED in a ‘lands for jobs’ scam after a shocking U-turn by Nitish Kumar. In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena’s UBT MP Sandeep Raut, the brother of Sanjay Raut, has been grilled in an alleged ‘khichdi scam’. As corruption scandals continue to grip Indian politics, this presents a moment of reckoning for the country’s political class. #IndianPolitics #EnforcementDirectorate #CorruptionScandals #rajdeepsardesai #hemantsoren #newstoaday
