With the much-anticipated delayed 2025 Budget Speech set to be delivered by Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana on Wednesday, some SMEs in the North West have taken the opportunity to voice their frustrations and warned that corruption poses a danger for infrastructure development in the province.

They allege that government officials solicit bribes from contractors to award them tenders and fast track payments.
According to the Auditor General’s 2023/24 financial year report, the provincial government’s failure to implement consequence management has resulted in a continuous rise of irregular expenditure from R25,67 billion from the 2018/19 financial year to R37,21 billion in this current financial year.
