His nickname “Chakre” originates from Chakrapath, the area in Kathmandu where he was born and operated. 
Criminal Background and Activities
Chakre Milan emerged as a significant gangster in Kathmandu in the early 1990s. His criminal endeavors encompassed extortion, money laundering, tender manipulation, and violent assaults. He was notorious for controlling businesses in areas like Thamel and Maharajgunj, often demanding protection money from local establishments. His criminal record dates back to 2001, with his first arrest for allegedly attacking Prince Dhirendra’s son-in-law with a sword. Subsequent arrests followed, including charges of attempted murders involving swords and firearms.  
Rivalry with Deepak Manange
Chakre Milan’s most infamous rivalry was with Rajiv Gurung, alias Deepak Manange, another notorious gangster in Kathmandu. Their feud culminated in a violent incident in May 2004, when Manange led a group of 15 men to attack Milan with swords, nearly severing his hand. In retaliation, Milan’s brother led an assault against Manange, who survived. Manange was convicted of attempted murder in 2012 and sentenced to five years in prison.  
Legal Issues and Political Connections
Chakre Milan faced multiple legal challenges, including a significant money laundering case in 2013, where he was accused of amassing illegal property worth Rs 70 million. However, in 2018, the Special Court acquitted him of these charges. He was also arrested in 2017 ahead of local elections due to concerns over potential disruptions. Despite his criminal background, Milan was reportedly recommended by the CPN-UML as a candidate for the 2079 BS Federal Parliament election from Gorkha constituency 2, although he was not ultimately nominated.
