There are a LOT of things I wish I’d known before I started reading the gospels!
The more I study the Bible, the more I realize that there are so many details in the New Testament that were familiar to Jesus’ audience, but have been forgotten over the past 2,000 years.
Whether it is the significance of specific locations, or differing expectations about the Messiah, or teaching practices that Jesus used that most people know nothing about, these things change how we read the gospels and can sometimes totally alter how we interpret a passage.
So, today, I am going to share with you five things that will change the way you read the Bible, things that I wish I’d known before I read the gospels, on this episode of Misreading Scripture.

Misreading Scripture is a series that takes common scriptures and helps you to see them with a new set of eyes. Many of these are scriptures we have been innocently misinterpreting. And once we gain insight into the culture and context of the passage, all of a sudden it becomes clear in an entirely new way.
