MUMBAI: BMC commissioner I S Chahal asked an additional municipal commissioner (eastern suburbs) to probe corruption allegations against a ward officer and summit a report within three weeks.
Earlier, MNS activists had complained to him, demanding a departmental enquiry against ward officer Makarand Dagadkhair, who had changed his name to Mahesh Patil and allegedly followed corrupt practices while awarding a service contract for the Malad Covid field hospital.
MNS spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande had submitted similar complaint to the state ACB. Deshpande had produced bank statements and WhatsApp messages purportedly between Patil and Yuva Sena’s Vaibhav Thorat discussing a bribe linked to the hospital contract. Deshpande said an unknown person had left this evidence in his office.
