I took some time last night to get some work done on the house while the men were asleep. LOL.
I went through a pile of books that were left there from the last time. I gave them all a second look and packed what I actually want to read and set aside the rest to be researched for sale or donation.
Clearing out books is not the easiest thing for avid readers. Do you have full shelves? One thing I found that really helps to purge them is to take a good hard think about any you have already read and decide if you will really read them again. Most of the books actually on my shelves are ones I have not read yet because I did that. As for the ones in boxes, some boxes will be a mix and I will have to make those decisions. I also purged a few in this video that I picked up to read years ago but tastes can change and I decided to pass on them. Give yourself permission to get rid of a book you have not read if you look at it now and realize it no longer interests you. It’s ok to let it go and donate it to a local library, nursing home, or shelter.
I have inherited from three estates in the last few years and they were all packed houses. 2 of them were hoarders of something. Either their inherited stuff or fabric, or crafts supplies, or books. I had to move all of the items in storage back into the house which is why it is overstuffed! I had an accident in 2021 that caused pinched nerves in my spine so it has been a challenge these last two years but I am still moving forward. I hope you enjoy the live sales, the learning and the journey as I empty it out by selling things off. If you also have an overstuffedhouse I will be your biggest cheerleader as you start your own journey in assessing what you have.
