The White House, U.S. pointed out that despite the fact that “the U.S. nursing home industry receives nearly $100 billion annually from American taxpayers,” several facilities are understaffed, putting patients at risk.
Dear viewers, U.S. President Joe Biden recently announced that Medicare has selected the first 10 drugs for price negotiation – which can help as many as 9 million Americans. The list includes medicines for heart failure, diabetes, kidney disease, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and more.
Now, the establishment of a 24-hour “federal floor” on staffing levels is one of numerous novel measures the White House unveiled on Friday to increase nursing home safety. It will guarantee that the facilities are adequately staffed.
A federal staffing ceiling regulation needs institutions to have a registered nurse on site 24/7 and a minimum number of registered nurses and nursing assistants. In order to give institutions time to recruit the required personnel, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposes implementing this rule in different phases.
