—The Bamenda central commissariat A GESTAPO HAVEN FOR THE MOST ODIOUS CRIMES.
The police are supposed to protect people not harass and exploit them. That is not the case with the central police station in old town Bamenda. This institution has been turned into a hall of horror and pure evil by the bosses there.
1) Police are instructed to go out and pick up young men. Some are locked up for weeks until they pay huge sums of money. Funny charges are concocted. Scamming. Suspected terrorist. No Id card. Etc etc
2) they don’t respect the legal limit for detention
3) they despise and disrespect orders from state counsels claiming they have exceptional powers due to the war
4) when they go out they have targets to seize car documents and impound as many cars as possible for flimsy reasons. Drivers must pay huge sums to recover their car documents.
5) impoundment fees are supposed to be paid into council coffers. Not so here. The Bamenda central commissariat has been turned into a private treasury. The money goes into the private pockets of policemen and their bosses
Each morning targets are set. The bosses tell the policemen going on patrol “amene moi 30 dossiers et au moins 40 person”. That’s a target of 70. Multiply that by 50k each and you will understand the sheer magnitude of evil and exploitation in this gulag styled unit.
If there is one police unit that needs a total overhaul then that should be the central commissariat in bamenda. It has been turned into a pure and gigantic hall of evil, harassments, illegal detentions, extortions and a torture chamber. Not a single letter of the law is respected in this unit. The Bamenda central commissariat is simply a reincarnation of Hitler’s Gestapo chambers in the 21st century
