Assam: 4, including GMC Chief Engineer, arrested in crackdown against 'corruption'

Assam police arrested four more individuals, including a Chief Engineer, in its latest flurry of arrests to curb corruption in the state.

A team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption caught Indrajit Bora, Chief Engineer at the Guwahati Municipal Corporation red-handed after he accepted a bribe from the complainant for releasing a security deposit.

Likewise, a team caught Lagan Basowar, a Lat Mandal of the Biswanath Revenue Circle after he accepted a bribe from the complainant for mutation of his purchased plot of land.

In the same trap operation, a middleman identified as Rajesh Tanti was also apprehended for accepting the bribe and conspiring with the Lat Mandal in the bribery case.

Surendra Kumar, the ADGP of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has informed the department successfully conducted 11 ‘trap operations in March.
