Gov Inslee gets a pass, legislators continue to be investigated, new violators are caught
Washington State Governor Jay Inslee received the predictable pass on his lawbreaking last year as he misused public resources for political purposes with his taxpayer-funded campaign rallies for Democratic State Senate and Legislators dressed up as press conferences. This was expected based in part on the fact he has appointed all the members of the Executive Ethics Board “investigating” him, but it was a worthwhile exercise regardless, and probably the first of many to come.
The 11 State Senators and Legislators are still being investigated by the Washington State Legislative Ethics Board, which is a little bit more robust and not quite as corrupted as the State Executive Ethics Board, and it is always worth watching how they respond to this issue a bit more closely. We’ve also caught up on some of our Public Disclosure Complaints recently, and those are currently being investigated as well.
