ACB inspector Hanumant Ware said that the trap was laid at around 10.30pm on Monday at Shelar’s residence located in Kanchanwadi. “He was arrested soon after he accepted the powdered currency notes on behalf of Bahekar,” said Ware.
The accused duo were produced before the court on Tuesday afternoon, following which they have been remanded to judicial custody.
ACB superintendent of police Sandip Atole said, “Thencharge administrative officer was well aware of WALMI’s junior engineer sharing a good rapport with the contractor when he asked him to seek bribe from the contractor.”
