INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAIʻI Election 2020 features the Honolulu Prosecutor Race. With no incumbent in the race, two candidates from an unusually crowded field of seven emerged from the Primary Election to face each other this fall. Both candidates were born and raised on Oʻahu:

–Former State Judge Steve Alm served as a Honolulu deputy prosecutor and as a U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaiʻi. In 2004, he launched Hawaiʻi’s Opportunity Probation with Enforcement program (HOPE). He left the bench in 2016.

–Megan Kau also worked as a Honolulu deputy prosecutor before joining two civil litigation firms. She now has her own private law firm and is a trial attorney specializing in civil, personal injury and criminal litigation.
