0

(27 May 2015) In a statement on Wednesday, FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Director James Comey said the investigation into FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) will continue until all of the corruption is uncovered.
Comey described football as having been ‘hijacked’ by those looking to gain at the expense of other countries and children that enjoy football.
Richard Weber, the Criminal Investigation Chief for the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), said its special agents had discovered complex money laundering schemes hiding tens of millions of dollars offshore.
As Swiss prosecutors opened criminal proceedings into FIFA’s awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, investigators in the United States unsealed criminal charges on Wednesday morning against 14 people alleging “rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted” corruption.
