Bruce Blaney is an advocate for home-based care delivery for the elderly and disabled. He worked for the Department of Health and Hospitals when Bobby Jindal was Secretary there in the first two years of Governor Mike Foster’s tenure. A federal lawsuit forced the state to put more emphasis on home-based care and Blaney played a key role in leading that shift within the department. When Bobby Jindal was elected Governor, his administration flipped direction and started heavily cutting home-based care providers and favoring the nursing home industry. Blaney believes that shift can be attributed to heavy campaign contributions from the nursing home industry to Jindal. This is part of the Brown Bag Lunch #6 event that also featured Steve Spires of the Louisiana Budget Project.
