Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he has always remained consistent that he was innocent of corruption charges which he claimed were fabricated against him.

The former deputy prime minister said he was grateful and equally thankful for the verdict delivered by the Shah Alam High Court near here today, which acquitted him of all 40 corruption charges in connection with the foreign visa (VLN) system.

Judge Mohd Yazid Mustafa handed down the verdict after he ruled the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case on the 40 charges against Zahid.

Apart from his team of lawyers, Zahid also thanked his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, his family members and supporters for their endless support throughout the case.
