Gautam Adani, one of India’s richest business tycoons, has been indicted by a U.S. court on charges of bribery and fraud. The charges include a $265 million bribery scheme and fraud, which allegedly involved bribing Indian government officials to secure lucrative solar energy contracts. The indictment also alleges that Adani and other executives made false and misleading statements to U.S. investors. The charges have led to a significant drop in Adani Group shares and have resulted in Adani Green Energy scrapping its plan to raise $600 million through bonds.
