On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people and Government of Somalia on your 65th National Day.

The United States looks forward to strengthening our shared bonds as we work together on economic growth and combatting extremism. We commend the Somali people for their efforts in the fight against terrorism and their efforts in building a more prosperous future. On this anniversary, I look forward to the year ahead and to working together on issues of mutual national interest.

The United States wishes all the people of Somalia a joyous occasion as they celebrate this anniversary.
