Limited seats, high fees, exam scam: Why India’s aspiring doctors are heading to foreign colleges



The future of millions of Indian medical students is uncertain due to exam postponements and scams, including the critical NEET-UG exam, which determines college admissions. Even before the alleged scam, thousands of medical students have opted to pursue their degrees abroad – a practice viewed unfavourably by the government. So why do students choose to study abroad, especially when the government has increased the number of medical seats and built more colleges in recent years? The BBC’s Jugal Purohit and Debalin Roy investigate.
