India’s 2G Spectrum Scam – One of the Biggest Corruption Cases Ever | ₹1.76 Lakh Crore Loss | Choice

Imagine selling gold at 2020 prices in 2025—that’s exactly what happened in 2008 when the government allocated 2G spectrum licenses at outdated 2001 prices! The result? A ₹1.76 lakh crore loss to the nation! 💸

What Was the 2G Scam?
🔹 Telecom Minister A. Raja allocated 122 2G spectrum licenses at throwaway prices.
🔹 The licenses were issued on a first-come, first-serve basis instead of an auction.
🔹 Cut-off dates were changed suddenly, benefiting certain telecom companies.
🔹 Some companies had no telecom experience but sold licenses at huge profits.
🔹 In 2012, the Supreme Court canceled all 122 licenses, calling the allocation “illegal.”
🔹 In 2017, a special CBI court acquitted all accused due to lack of evidence.

How Did India Lose ₹1.76 Lakh Crore?
✔ 2008 spectrum licenses were sold at 2001 prices – way below market value.
✔ Many companies that got licenses sold them at much higher rates for profit.
✔ Corruption allegations emerged, but evidence wasn’t enough for conviction.
