Fugitive Offender Mehul Choksi Arrested in Belgium on India’s Extradition Request | N18G
Fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi, wanted for his involvement in the Punjab National Bank loan fraud case, has been arrested by Belgian authorities. The arrest was made at the request of Indian agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), after Mumbai courts issued non-bailable warrants against him. Choksi was arrested on April 12 after Indian authorities intensified efforts to have him extradited. Both Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi fled India in January 2018. Reports suggest that Choksi was planning to move to Switzerland for medical treatment when he was caught.
