On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my warmest congratulations to the people of France as you celebrate your National Day on July 14.
July 14 commemorates the enduring principles of liberty, self-determination, and republican governance that have inspired generations in France and around the world. As the United States marks 250 years of independence, we are reminded that the French people played an indispensable role in the founding of our nation. France’s support during the American Revolution helped secure the independence of a young republic and established a partnership that has endured for two and a half centuries. Today, we continue to work together to address global challenges, strengthen our collective defense, counter antisemitism, and enhance economic cooperation.
On this occasion, we celebrate the longstanding friendship between the American and French people and reaffirm our commitment to a future grounded in liberty, security, and opportunity. The United States looks forward to deepening our partnership with France in the years ahead. I wish all the people of France a joyful and memorable national day.
