A man impersonating a renowned UK cardiologist performed 15 heart surgeries at a mission hospital in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in 7 reported deaths. The accused, Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, claimed to be Dr. Kemp from the UK. The incident came to light after an RTI activist lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission. Police are investigating the hospital’s role in the negligence, as the fraudulent activities occurred between December 2024 and February 2025. The Indian Medical Association reports that 10 lakh quacks operate in India, highlighting a widespread issue in the healthcare system.
