Brandon Johnson on Redemption, Sports Bribery, & Building No Script Nonprofit | Black Book TV

In this powerful and deeply personal episode of Black Book TV, we sit down with Brandon Johnso who is a former NCAA Division I basketball star turned impact speaker, Sports Betting Awareness Ambassador, and founder of the No Script nonprofit. Brandon’s story is one of resilience, redemption, and rising beyond life’s hardest setbacks.

From experiencing homelessness and losing a parent to incarceration, to walking onto the University of San Diego’s campus at just 17 with two garbage bags, and leaving as the school’s all-time leader in scoring and assists, Brandon’s drive is unmatched. He played in the NBA Summer League for the Phoenix Suns and later suited up for the Washington Wizards preseason. But in 2013, his path took a dramatic turn when he was sentenced to six months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit sports bribery.

Rather than let that moment define him, Brandon turned his setback into a comeback, playing professional basketball overseas for eight years and emerging with a renewed mission to help others avoid the same pitfalls.

In this candid conversation, Brandon opens up about life on and off the court, the dangers of sports betting culture, and how his nonprofit No Script is helping youth build character, self-worth, and real-life skills. He also shares what perseverance, purpose, and faith mean in a world where athletes are often left without a playbook for life.

If you’ve ever faced failure, pressure, or the weight of starting over, this episode is for you.

Don’t miss this inspiring story of grit, grace, and giving back. Like, share, and comment to help amplify Brandon’s mission and message.
