Botswana National Day – United States Department of State

On behalf of the United States, I wish you congratulations as you celebrate 59 years of independence.

The people and governments of the United States and Botswana have partnered over the last year to work on important issues. Together we have increased regional security by helping the Botswana Defense Force obtain aircraft which will be used for peacekeeping as well as disaster response capabilities. The launch of Botswana’s satellite BOTSAT-1 from the United States is the next step in what I hope is a fruitful collaboration in space affairs. The United States looks forward to working together to spur investment, job creation, and economic growth in both our nations.

As Botswana nears its milestone anniversary of 60 years of independence, I congratulate Botswana on this important National day
