2018 में शुरू हुई आयुष्मान भारत योजना ने गरीब और कमजोर परिवारों को मुफ्त इलाज की सुविधा प्रदान की. लेकिन कुछ अस्पताल इस योजना का दुरुपयोग कर रहे हैं. वे नकली बीमारियों का इलाज करके सरकार से पैसा ले रहे हैं. गुजरात के अहमदाबाद में एक प्राइवेट अस्पताल में आयुष्मान योजना के लालच के नाम पर 19 मरीजों की एंजियोप्लास्टी मामले में एक बड़ा खुलासा हुआ है. दो मरीजों की मौत भी हुई थी. अब गुजरात सरकार के स्वास्थ्य विभाग के अपर मुख्य सचिव धनंजय द्विवेदी ने कहा कि ख्याति हॉस्पिटल मे हुई घटना को लेकर कमिटी की जांच मे सामने आया है कि जिनकी मौत हुई है, उनकी एंजियोप्लास्टी की जरूरत ही नहीं थी.
