78-year-old woman found fraudulent charges, wallet missing morning police found her dead in her home

Vancouver Police have identified the 78-year-old woman found dead Tuesday in a suspected homicide – and say she discovered fraudulent charges and her wallet missing the morning of her death.

Patricia Jimerfield has been named as the victim.

Police say on the morning of October 8, Jimerfield was alerted by her bank about pending fraudulent charges on her account. Upon checking her purse, she discovered her wallet was missing and subsequently filed a fraud report with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators are currently examining the fraudulent charges.

Notably, there were no signs of forced entry or burglary at her residence.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on the same day, sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to a medical call for an unresponsive person at a home near Northwest 26th Avenue and 99th Street in the Lakeshore area. First responders found Jimerfield dead inside the residence.

Stephanie Ayersnan, Jimerfield’s daughter, expressed her grief, saying, “We were supposed to grow old together, and I was supposed to take care of her.” Ayersnan was traveling to Portland, unaware it would be her last communication with her mother.
