Attorney Joan Flowers, the attorney for State Senator Malcolm Smith, with a salary of $145,000 a year, has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from policians for her non-profit New Direction Development Corp that provides no service. The organization also collected nearly $35,000 for Hurricane Katrina victims, however, Flowers and Smith have never accounted for the money.
