Tackling Global Inequalities through Local Action Advancing SDG 10 through SDG 16

The pandemic is not only exacerbated by the deprivation and vulnerabilities of those left behind by rising inequality but its fallout is pushing inequality higher. With communities be it local suppliers or youth members increasingly left behind by the pandemic, Peace and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) are integral for them to regain the confidence to reduce inequalities (SDG 10). Especially as corruption directly affects a nation’s medical and financial capacities, these institutions are more than necessary to provide checks and balances but also to uplift marginalized communities.

Learn how you, as an individual or a collective, can strive to uphold SDG 16 and enhance SDG 10 simultaneously.

Chandrasnata Mohanty

My name is Snata and I’m 16 years. I reside in Visakhapatnam, India and study in 12th grade. I’ve been involved in MUNs for a year now and I was a participant in MUN Impact’s Global Summit 1.0 after which I went on to become a MUN@Home mentor in October and now have multiple roles across MUNI’s numerous programs. I’m also a part of the various student-run organizations and newspapers where we focus on activism and addressing global issues. Apart from this, I’m passionate about Music, Literature, History, and Astronomy.

Justin Cheng

I’m an upcoming junior at Diocesan Boys’ School, Hong Kong, and I’ve been involved in MUN for several years now! I’ve directed conferences such as ISMUNHK, Hong Kong’s largest independent conference with ties with UNESCO HK as Deputy-Secretary General. Furthermore, I co-founded the VIVA Forum Initiative, a global affairs organization of ~50 which has been featured on RTHK and hosted a range of activities, aiming to target SDG 16, and personally, I really like shibas.
