Uranium Insider Says Uranium Has Decoupled | Resource Heads Ep. 49

0

The highlight of this week’s Resource Heads is my conversation with Justin Huhn, the Uranium Insider, who told me that uranium has been steadily outperforming the broad markets and that it has actually already decoupled.

I also talked about the recent M&A activity in the mining space and what that means for the sector, child actor Greta Thunberg being totally realistically arrested, and the molybdenum price exploding 60% in a brief period of time.

The best-performing commodity last week was lumber. Lumber spiked +25% this week, in the face of falling 30-year fixed mortgage rates. After having fallen over 60% last year, lumber suppliers slowed down production, and now – right before the building season – the demand for lumber is growing and putting even more pressure on the supply-demand balance.

After eggs, the worst-performing commodity was natural gas, which fell nearly 9% last week, and is down over 40% on the monthly. That is because a milder-than-expected winter has caused demand to fall, while governments around the globe increased their production relatively quickly, and filled up their reserves more than usual. The cold weather that hit Europe this week is headed for the US next week, though, so natural gas will be interesting to watch.
