Here’s how Imran Khan reacts after British PM fined for failing to wear seat belt

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday appreciated the rule of law in Britain after UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was fined for failing to wear a seat belt while he filmed a social media clip in the back seat of a moving car.

Sunak, who apologised on Thursday for a “brief error of judgement”, had uploaded the video to Instagram during a trip to north west England. It was widely shared by other users who noticed that he had not buckled up.

Local police had said later that day they would investigate, and confirmed late on Friday that an offence had taken place. Sunak becomes the second prime minister after Johnson to have broken the law in such a manner.

Taking to Twitter, Mr Khan, who served as Pakistan’s premier from 2018 to 2021, remarked: “This is rule of law where no one is above it; this differentiates prosperous nations from poor ones”.

While apparently comparing it to the situation in Pakistan, he said there were no concept of giving NROs to corrupt, custodial torture over a tweet against the powerful persons and land grabbers as “justice system protects the weak”.

“No NROs, no qabza gps [groups],no custodial torture for tweeting truth about the powerful because justice system protects the weak. Justice was bedrock of Riyasat e Madina,” he wrote.
