Former President Zuma's corruption trial to resume on Tuesday


Former President Jacob Zuma’s corruption trial is due to resume in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday. The court will hear his special plea hearing for the recusal of state prosecutor Billy Downer, who Zuma claims is biased against him. The former President and French Arms company Thales have pleaded not guilty to racketeering, corruption, money laundering and fraud charges as part of South Africa’s 1999 multi-billion rand arms deal contracts. The application has been postponed twice since August due to Zuma’s ill-health. He is currently on medical parole after being sentenced to 15 months for contempt of court on separate case.
