UNGASS Side Event on Safeguarding Sport from Corruption


Side event on Safeguarding Sport from Corruption was organized on the margins of the special session of the United Nations General Assembly against corruption on June 2, 2021. The event served as a platform to raise awareness about the threats posed by corruption to sport, highlight and propose initiatives on how to overcome such threats.

The side event consisted of interventions from high-level speakers:
Ms. Ghada Waly, Executive Director
Mr. Vincent Van Quickenborne, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and of the North Sea, Belgium
Mr. Timothy Dunham, Deputy Assistant Director, Criminal Investigative Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation, USA
Mr. Thomas Bach, President, International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Mr. Gianni Infantino, President, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)
